Price Comparison Competitor Analysis

For this project, we were tasked with conducting desk research into the pricing of two different car models in 10 European countries for a multinational car brand. We were provided with a list of 10 smaller European markets, and our objective was to collect the price points for one of the car brand's best selling models and the equivalent model of their biggest competitor in each of these countries to determine any price differences. We were aware of the rapidly changing economic environment in different European countries, and therefore had a hunch that car prices might be affected.

To complete the project, we conducted thorough desk research to gather the recommended retail prices (RRP) or manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the car brand's low-specification model, medium-specification model, and high-specification model, as well as the competitor's equivalent. We ensured that all prices were available on the national website for each manufacturer and that they excluded delivery or registration charges.

We recorded all of the data in an Excel spreadsheet. Moreover, we created a comprehensive and visually pleasing dashboard that showed different graphs of the differing prices between countries and models, ready to be presented to other organisation members. The dashboard included multiple filters making it easy and self-explanatory to navigate through the several markets and specification levels.

We also gave them a PowerPoint presentation that provided quick overviews and indices of the pricing in the different markets. The presentation had visuals to represent the data, making it easy for the client to understand their price position in these markets. Overall, we successfully completed the project and provided the client with the information they needed to have a clear picture of their price position in the market of these countries to base further business directions on.
